A commentator said last week, on the day that John Roberts was confirmed and then sworn in, "this is probably the last good day that George Bush will have in the White House." The commentator was pointing to all the agony and harsh reviews of all aspects of the Iraqi War and the occupation, the continued debriefing of the administration incompetence of disaster preparation and aftermath, and now the impending flu epidemic which has already caught the US administration ill-prepared. Now Bush tries to get his own personal lawyer on the Supreme Court, only this time to encounter furious opposition and questioning from his right wing base. The common thread running through so much of these debacles is the loyalty that is shown to those who have been faithful to the Bush family: Cheney, Rummy, Rice, Powell, Rove etc. Croneyism as never before! At least since Teapot Dome.
