Better news from Church of Boston

For a few years, the Catholic Church of Boston has been in a sad state, stemming mostly from the abuse crisis and the bitter awareness that a lot of the harm was self-inflicted with cover-ups and dishonesty. You can also add the terrific impact of the many parishes that are being closed. News that financial contributions have gone up significantly is remarkable. I had thought that it would be a full generation before such support would re-appear but now it would seem that people make very shrewd distinctions and do not want the good works of the Archdiocese to fail. Add also to this the very good news about thousands of people in the last stages of their preparation for initiation into the church at Easter. Some reasons to give thanks. / News / Local / Mass. / Church raised $10.8m in 2004
